About Carlos

Prior to performing The Carlos Eton Show, Carlos was a public speaker, community college instructor, multimedia consultant, computer programmer, and musician. He entered the world of comedy to prove to his students that anybody can realize their dreams.  (When he is not doing comedy, Carlos conducts dream-discovery and self-empowerment workshops, subjects that he is truly passionate about.)  Carlos lives in Quartz Hill, California, although he visits his home planet on a regular basis.

The Real Story:  Carlos Eton, The Accidental Comic?

Carlos never imagined himself becoming a comic.  Having studied music theory and composition, he moved to to California to pursue a career as a serious songwriter.  Perhaps he was a nitwit, but he stubbornly kept on writing serious music, (in spite of his friends who clearly saw the obvious--he should be writing humorous songs, which he would sing a parties for fun).  Though a couple of his songs were almost picked up for publishing and recording, success in this arena would elude him.

Even the most stubborn individuals eventually realize when a direction yields no fruit, so Carlos took a few years off to examine his performance path.

His luck would change by sheer accident.

One day, while lecturing his Introduction To Computers students on the importance of pursuing their dreams, a couple of the students shouted out, "What about YOU?"

"Whatever do you mean?", Carlos replied, knowing full well what they meant.

"We know you want to perform comedy!  You definitely enterain us!"

"I'll make a deal with you."  Carlos answered.  "If I go do a standup set somewhere, then you have to promise me to actively pursue your dream."

So, Carlos went out to do his first standup performance.

His virgin performance was less than satisfying.  By his own admission, he felt he delivered a mediocre set.  And disappointing.  Carlos had figured that he was prepared, having been a public speaker, teacher, and musician.  He learned that night that standup comedy requires a unique skill set.

Improvising on his synthesizer the next day, he grunted aloud "well, they can all just kiss my a**!".  And then it happened!  The music he had been arranging happened to fit nicely with his expressed sentiment.  This song became K.M.A., his signature sing-along song, which has opened every show since.  (It turns out the song is also his personal anthem.)

And from those 3 little words, a show was born.  He worked hard on his craft, having taken improv and comedy classes, writing new songs, and performing in venues in the California Antelope Valley to develop his skills, and began formulating what would become The Carlos Eton Show, a party-like blending of standup, improv, music, and audience participation.
